Today, all the stone walls and moats you see actually belong to the Tokugawa shogunate. After Toyotomi's Osaka Castle fell, it was buried, and a brand-new castle was built right on top. So as you wander through the park, nearly everything in plain sight is Tokugawa's—traces of Hideyoshi linger only underground and in a few select spots. Enter through Otemon Gate, pass by historic turrets designated as Important Cultural Properties, and head up to the main bailey. After admiring the castle tower, head down to Yamazato-maru, where Hideyori and Lady Yodo are said to have met their end. Takes about 1–2 hours.
